Getting Gigabit ethernet going instead of regular ethernet................

I've only had win64 professional going for about a day and a half, still messing around and learning.  I had to install a couple of times till I figured out a few problems, at one point I had gigabit ethernet going and the little computer icon in the task tray was reading gigabit instead of the usual 10 mbps.  I have no idea what I did to activate that.........I'm hoping somebody can tell me what to do.....of course that could have just been some kind of glitch but if the board can do it and my dsl can do it then I want to use it............I've got 64 bit drivers for everything the ethernet is built into the board.  EPOX EP8KDA3+Pro.  Any help appreciated.

Ok your board supports Gigabit ethernet, do you have a router installed at all?

If not then your internet connection is more than likely not 1Gbps.

The gigabit ehthernet will only affect your internal home network it wil not increase the performance of the internet connection or the response time between the computer and modem.

    Hope that helps
