    Windows - No Disk error

Problem came up at end of installation; Now shows up everytime I try to activate a program from the desktop. The program activates just fine but you have to get rid of the error screen all the time. Some times several times before you can get rid of it permanently.
    Reeeaaaallllly irritating
    SCREEN;  Windows - no disk
There is no disk in the drive
Please insert a disk into the drive
Cancel - Try Again - Continue
There really is no problem, everything is working fine, no program lockups, everything starts just fine.
Just a pane in the butt. You can click on any of the options (cancel, Try again or continue) it will eventually disappear.
Suspect the problem is in the registry, ran registry mechanic, didn't fix
    Any help appreciated.
    Chuck

Re: Windows - No Disk error

By "a program" do you mean any program or a particular program?

Is your device manager free of red x's and yellow exclamation points?

Does your event viewer have any more information about these events?

Do your optical drives try to spin up before you get the errors or is it your hard drive?

    - If hard drive, is it PATA or SATA and have you checked the cable yet?

Re: Windows - No Disk error

Happens to me a lot when a webpage or something that has an audio or visual display. If you have HijackThis, run it and look for

    [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe"

Check it and then click the 'fix checked' option. The No Disk error should close.

If you don't have HJT, you can get it here.http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

    Hope that helps. Smile [:)]
