    remove x64

    Hi,

I'd like to remove x64 trail version, it's unstable, doesn't support much programs...

I've already tried removing it by:

-right click on c:/ picking "format", gives me an error
-start in safe mode with command prompt then enter:
        cd\
        cd\windows\system32
        \osuninst.exe

doesn't work for me, tells me:
"osuninst.exe is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batchfile."

-putting in cd 32 bits windows xp pro, gives me the menu, great almost thought that was going to do it, but ah no too bad... the option: "install windows xp" is grey marked -unclickable-
-put in win xp pro 32 bits cd at startup, ( the blue screen ) press enter to install windows xp prof. so I did... error message:

"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.

Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program.

Setup cannot continue. To quit setup, press F3."

I installed driver for my motherboard harddisc (samsung xp2504c) then restart... nothing, same error...
I downloaded updates from samsung.com -> self extracting instalation, error msg:

"Zip damaged: file HUTIL/HUTIL.EXE bad crc f92b9148 (should be c8c715dd). Possible cause: file transfer error."

but wait? i see it has created a new folder! so I check the folder, open the file... error message:

"The image file c:/blablablablabla/hutil/hutil.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine"

I don't know what to do anymore, I only want to get rid of this x64 version, and go back to the old save 32 bits xp pro version... Please help me out...

    your sincerely,

    ceasarr

ps. sorry for my bad english

    Re: remove x64

You should be able to insert the 32-bit Windows XP and install normally.  Also you can insert your x64 Windows CD and format the disc with it.

    Re: remove x64

XP64 is not an upgrade that can be uninstalled but a stand alone OS that was installed by formating and writing to a blank drve/partition. To get rid of it you will have to format the drive/partition or do an install using another OS CD and booting up from that CD. Starting XP64 and trying to install or overwrite will not work.
