X64 log on to SAMBA PDC problem

    Hello there !

I got dual boot sys with XP32 and X64.
XP32 has no probs with the samba domain at all.

Big S&D LAN here, SAMBA TNG (PDC) on Redhat Linux, LDAP.

All  network operations work fine except of logging on to the SAMBA domain.

Adding the X64 client to the domain (from X64) did work, but logging on the X64 client to the samba pdc returned a RPC PROTOCOL ERROR error message without any further details.
The eventlog of X64 didn't show any related error or details.
Checking the logs of the samba pdc, it shows a RPC error as well.

Are there problems with X64 clients and SAMBA domain controllers & RPC ?

I didnt manage to locate the cause of this problem.

    tia

Re: X64 log on to SAMBA PDC problem

Just bought a Dell Precision 670 Dual Xeon system with x64 pre installed and am getting the same error message when attempting to log on to our Samba domain. I have had no problems with XP x32, 2000, 98 etc.

Re: X64 log on to SAMBA PDC problem

I asked this question on the Microsoft Community and got the following reponse:

I'm afraid you're going to have to talk to the samba folks. There _are_ some
RPC differences with x64, and there's at least one patch out there that has
to be applied in an SBS environment for x64 clients. But obviously MS
doesn't provide patches for samba, so you'll need to post your query in the
    samba newsgroup.

I have already posted a question to Novell/SuSE. Will let you know how I get on.
