Ick! [+o(] WOW.  Nice disk setup there!  Interesting Adaptec card you have there, why didn't you get a dedicated RAID card with some onboard cache instead?

    Re: Your x64 Computer

The X6DA8-G2 comes with an integrated AIC-7902 U320 controller and a special PCI-X slot that supports zero-channel RAID. It makes buying RAID much cheaper, since my RAID controller doesn't need to have a SCSI controller built in. Total savings is about $300. The controller DOES have onboard cache: 48MB. Not as much cache as the full-blown controllers, but I'm not serving large databases with this machine--I'm only using it to run numerical simulations and don't want to lose any data due to a drive failure.

Man, that is sick, I just googled your motherboard and damn, that is a sick setup.  Please tell me you use that system for more than gaming. :)

I use it for the following, in order of frequency of use:

    1. Spectral phase retrieval and pulse reconstruction for extremely broadband attosecond pulses using measured interferogram and 2nd order interferometric autocorrelation data. This is an iterative procedure involving many 10s of thousands of Fourier transforms performed on large data sets. The more processor, the better, for this analysis.

    2. 1-D and 2-D hydrodynamic simulations of plasma formation and growth from the interaction of above damage-threshold laser pulses with solid targets. Processor and memory are both big factors, here. Large output files require lots of drive space.

    3. 1-D and 2-D particle-in-cell simulations of the nonlinear propagation of relativistic-intensity laser pulses in underdense plasmas and the interaction of these laser pulses with the critical surface in gradient density circumstances. Processor, memory, and drive space needed, also.

    4. Writing my dissertation.

    5. Games

Prioritization subject to change, of course. Wink [;)]

Where did you get the HostRaid drivers?  I have pretty much this exact setup but I need the HostRaid drivers for Windows Server 2003 64-bit.

    Thanks!
