Bad Journalism These Days...

Robert McLaws has once again given me my monthly reason why I don't like Paul Thurrott.  Thanks man ;-).

But seriously Rob, you're right.  Journalism these days has been horrible.  For two weeks now, I've wanted to write about some recent articles that have appeared on The Inquirer.  Don't get me wrong, I love that publication, and Mike Magee is a cool guy, but there have been a few horrible writings these last few weeks.

It started out wtih an article titled, "Microsoft Vista shuts out other OSes".  Not even past the title, linux and x86 Mac OS zealots would start ranting and raving.  The article continues to talk about how machines with TPM (Trusted Platform Module) chips will not allow anyone to tamper with the boot process.

The article *forgot* to mention, that this is what corporations want.  Lose your company laptop, and some joe can't boot up on WinPE and change your password.  Not a corporation?  Don't use TPM.  Easy as that.

The next Inquirer article that I would like to complain about is titled "Windows Vista beta 2 comes in November".  In this article, there is absolutely no source.  None at all.  He didnt even say that the source was a "Microsoft employee who would like to remain confidential".  For all I know, he might have imagined this all up while he was sitting on the toliet.  Besides, when I asked a few of my Microsoft friends about this article, they pretty much all responded with "wow, that's news to me" - as if this November guess is totally wrong.

The good news is, at least The Inquirer didn't tell people to boycott IE7, for absolutely no valid reasons.  :-)
